ITV Dancing on Ice’s Christopher Dean under fire as viewers say ‘on what planet’

The legendary ice skater was criticised as fans couldnt get their heads around his decision

Dancing on Ice judge and legendary ice skater Christopher Dean came under fire from fans of the show after they were left baffled by his scores. The 66-year-old Olympic gold medal-winning ice skater was criticised for ‘inconsistent’ scoring.

Viewers at home were left unimpressed after he rated TV presenter Michaela Strachan an 8.5 out of 10 for her latest performance – the same score he had given to former footballer Anton Ferdinand earlier in the programme. Christopher had criticised Anton’s posture on the ice, and took issue with the style of Michaela’s dance.

Viewers called for Michaela to win the show after her latest performance, while they said Anton looked ‘stiff’ and ‘wooden’. Christopher told Michaela: “I love that you take the risks you don’t make it easy Mark. There’s lots of steps in there.”

But he added: “This felt like more of a lyrical piece and you chose to go for the fast feet…and it was quite an intense piece and for me it was more of a romantic piece.”

Speaking about Anton’s performance, Christopher complimented the sports star on the number of steps in his routine, but told him going forward it was ‘all about the details’. He criticised his posture saying he needed to not bend at the hips to meet professional partner Annette, but bend his knees to meet her.

Fuming Dancing on Ice fans took to X to air their frustration. One wrote: “So according to Christopher Dean, Anton F was as good as Michaela! IDIOT.”

A second said: “FFS Chris ruined that,” while a third added: “On what planet can you rate Michaela the same as Anton.”
