NALYSSA SMITH has been left “sick to my stomach” after a heartbreaking trade in the WNBA.
The former Dallas Wings forward was traded to the Las Vegas Aces on Monday, June 30, seemingly without prior knowledge.

But that trade is more than simply a trade to another team.
It is also a trade away from her girlfriend, DiJonai Carrington.
Carrington plays as a guard for the Wings.
Smith, 24, revealed her gutted reaction on social media.
She said: “Sick to my stomach dawg, never seen this coming.
“But… I love you Dallas Nation.
“Thank you for everything.”
Carrington, 27, shared this sentiment.
She posted a broken heart emoji on X, formerly known as Twitter, following the news.
The duo played one season together at the Baylor University Bears in the 2020-2021 season.

However, both were then acquired by the Wings in the 2025 offseason.
This came shortly before the team drafted 2025 NCAA champion with UConn, Paige Bueckers.
That being said, Smith is choosing to look on the positive side.
After revealing her initial shock, she revealed that Vegas would have been her first choice for a trade.
She said: “On another note, tho.
“If i could’ve chosen anywhere to go it would’ve been Vegas.
“So hella excited for this new opportunity wit my goat.”
The “goat” comment possibly refers to A’ja Wilson.
Wilson is a three-time WNBA MVP in 2020, 2022 and 2024 and was part of the Aces’ two championship teams.
How the WNBA works
THE 2024 WNBA season features 12 teams with the regular-season running from May 14 to September 9.
Each team plays 40 regular-season games – four against five teams from the same conference and two teams from the other conference, and three games against the remaining four teams.
The top eight teams in the league standings qualify for the playoffs – regardless of what conference they’re in.
The playoffs will use a best-of-three format in the first round while the semifinals and WNBA Finals are best of five.
This season also includes a month-long break for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The Las Vegas Aces are defending back-to-back WNBA champions.
