Candace Parker Didn’t Hesitate When Naming Three WNBA Players Better Than Caitlin Clark

Although she has missed 10 games due to multiple injuries, Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark was named a captain for the 2025 WNBA All-Star, receiving the most fan votes of any player in the league.

Through 12 games this year, Clark has seen a significant decrease in scoring production. She is averaging 16.7 points on 37.4 percent shooting, compared to 19.2 points at 41.7 percent during her rookie season. But her playmaking has continued to improve, jumping from 8.4 assists per game in 2024 to 9.0 in 2025.

Over her two seasons, Clark has become one of the better players in the WNBA. And Los Angeles Sparks legend Candace Parker would agree, even though she has three players better than the former Iowa Hawkeyes star.

On Monday, Parker joined Complex Sports and shared her WNBA player rankings list, with “S” as the best and “D” as the worst. Parker started by listing her three “S” players.

“A’ja Wilson, reigning MVP, couple Defensive Player of the Years, two championships,” Parker said. “If there was something higher than S, I would definitely put her up there. Napheesa Collier. She’s up there with top tier with A’ja. Just her ability to play on both sides of the ball. Pump fake, she’s gonna make you choose wrong… Breanna Stewart. The versatility. Reigning champion from last year. She’s got three of them things. I don’t think there’s any debate with that.”

Parker then went on to rank Clark one spot lower than the above three.

“This is where it gets tricky,” Parker continued. “Caitlin Clark is at an A level. I think in time, she’s going to raise up to that S, but in order to put her at that level, she’s gotta have a couple more years.”

Parker also added Sparks guard Kelsey Plum and Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu to the “A” tier with Clark.

Clark and the Fever will be back in action on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. ET, eyeing a three-game winning streak as they hit the road to face the Connecticut Sun.
