Ten years ago, David Beckham publicly responded to criticism after being caught kissing his daughter Harper on the lips, calling it a “natural act of love for a father to his daughter”. But on Thursday night, at the launch of Hugo Boss, a similar moment caused a stir on social media – this time over an apparently uncomfortable reaction from Harper, now 13.

A viral clip shows David leaning in to kiss Harper during a family photo, but she clearly tilts her head away, looking shy and embarrassed. Although Harper eventually lets her dad kiss her cheek, the moment was enough to spark a heated debate online once again.

Many on Twitter and Instagram have pointed out that Harper is now a teenager and her reaction suggests there should be a change in the way fathers and daughters show affection. One comment, which received thousands of likes, read: *“She was clearly uncomfortable. Maybe David needs to understand that his daughter is an adult.”*
