Brittney Griner’s brutal move on Caitlin Clark doesn’t go unnoticed
The Indiana Fever exacted revenge on the Atlanta Dream on Thursday after their loss earlier this week, with Caitlin Clark looking to have been hard-fouled by Brittney Griner which left fans conflicted
Brittney Griner appeared to attempt to elbow Caitlin Clark in the face while coming off of a screen in the Atlanta Dream’s game with the Indiana Fever on Thursday night, while many have argued that the superstar guard had flopped.
It had been the second time the Dream had played the Fever this week after they had defeated Clark’s team in somewhat of an upset after the Fever’s dominant win over the Chicago Sky. The two teams look to be among the favorites to be compete for the WNBA title this year, in what had been a chippy game on Thursday eveningOn the aforementioned play in particular, Clark had been screened by Griner who appeared to rise her elbow in order to execute the play while the guard had flailed her head in the action of being struck.
Griner was called for a foul, but replays had shown that very little contact – if any – had been made with some stating that Clark had flopped.
One fan wrote: “Caitlin Clark with a monumental flop against Brittney Griner,” as another had written: “lol that’s weak from Caitlin Clark.”
However, others argued the opposite, with one tweeting: “You can see Griner hitting her. Not a monumental flop,” as another said: “Clear contact here.”
Clark had her struggles in the game, with just 11 points, six assists and four rebounds while missing a number of shots she’d expect herself to make – shooting 4-for-11 from the field and 0-for-5 from three.
Speaking after the win, she said: “Good dub. Ugly, but we found a way to win.”
Griner had fouled out in the game, failing to make the impact that she had in the win over the Fever earlier this week while cutting a frustrated image after seeing going to the bench as she fouled Clark.

The Dream looked to defend Clark aggressively in the second match-up, throwing multiple defensive looks at her while making life difficult for her to score – having to trust in her teammates
Clark had prepared for the league to play her more physically this year, bulking up this past offseason while reportedly putting on a few pounds in muyscle mass.
“Going into year two, I feel like I have experience in this league,” she told reporters before the season began. “I know what to expect. I know how training camp works … just having that experience of how things operate has provided me with a lot of confidence.”
