Social Media Is Destroying ESPN Over Bizarre Angel Reese Decision
ESPN was heavily criticized for posting an Angel Reese shot to Twitter during Saturday’s game between the Chicago Sky and Phoenix Mercury.
The Sky, now 3-9, got blown out by their most recent opponents, losing 107-86. Reese, who hit one of the least impactful threes, was highlighted by The Worldwide Leader in Sports after scoring one from beyond the arc while her team was down by 22 points.
It wasn’t as if the shot made a difference, given that the Mercury were having their way with Chicago, who trailed for the entire contest. But ESPN decided that Reese’s three-piece was highlight worthy.
“ANGEL REESE FOR THREE😤,” the network wrote as the caption to the post.

Angel Reese’s Three-Point Highlight Leaves Social Media Users Upset
Angel ReeseFolks didn’t buy into the ESPN hype after the tweet started doing the rounds, and they received quite a bit of criticism.
“I know I’m falling for the engagement trap by amplifying this but posts like this are terrible for ESPN’s brand. That emoji when she hits a shot while her 3-9 team is down 20 points? Who is this for?” Ryan Glasspeigel of Front Office Sports asked.
Other users also lashed out.
“I’ll never understand why ESPN continues to force one of the worst WNBA players on us over & over again,” one wrote.
“Way to cut the lead to 18 @Reese10Angel,” someone added.
“Why is someone (anyone) making a basic three point shot worthy of a highlight post?” a fan asked.
Reese finished the game with nine points, two rebounds, and two assists.
The Sky will be back in action against the Atlanta Dream this Sunday afternoon and will hope to pick up a win this time around.
