Basketball fans are LIVID.
A now-viral REEL showing Dijonai Carrington committing what many are calling the DIRTIEST foul of the WNBA season has exploded on social media, with fans demanding swift action from the league.

The clip, which shows Carrington delivering a brutal, unnecessary, and potentially dangerous play, has not only sparked online outrage, but also reignited the conversation around player safety, league discipline, and double standards.

THE PLAY THAT SHOOK THE COURT: “Was that even basketball?!”

In the now-infamous video, Carrington is seen grabbing, pulling, and then forcefully knocking down her opponent during a crucial moment of the game. What makes it worse? The referee appeared to MISS the call completely — letting the play continue while fans were left in utter disbelief.

“This ain’t WNBA… this is WWE!”
“Imagine if this was the other way around. There would be suspensions in 5 minutes.”

The comments section? A full-blown war zone.

Sports Fans, Analysts, and Players React: “That’s a Suspension-Worthy Move.”

Stephen A. Smith (via social): “The league better not ignore this. That’s not just reckless — it’s dangerous.”

Former WNBA players: “This sets a terrible precedent if left unpunished.”

Fans: “If Caitlin Clark did this, headlines would be EVERYWHERE by now.”

The WNBA Remains Silent (For Now…)

As of this writing, the WNBA has not released any formal statement or clarification about whether Carrington will be fined or suspended — and that silence is only fueling the fire.

“If this goes unpunished, then what message are you sending to players and fans?”

History of Aggression? Carrington’s Growing Reputation

While Carrington is undeniably talented and passionate on the court, this isn’t the first time her name has been dragged into dirty play controversies. From aggressive defense to borderline flagrant fouls, critics say it’s part of a pattern.

One fan wrote:

“Every time something rough happens on the court, Carrington’s name somehow pops up.”

What Happens Next? The WNBA Has a Decision to Make.

This isn’t just about one foul — it’s about credibility, accountability, and protecting athletes. With millions now having seen the viral reel, the WNBA faces intense pressure to make an example out of Carrington — or risk losing the trust of its fans.

“All eyes are on you, WNBA. Don’t sweep this under the rug.”

DiJonai Carrington Bracing for Punishment from WNBA for Dirty Play vs. Sparks

DiJonai Carrington Bracing for Punishment from WNBA for Dirty Play vs. Sparks originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

The Dallas Wings and Los Angeles Sparks faced off in an intriguing WNBA matchup on Friday night. When all was said and done, the Sparks took care of business and defeated the Wings by a final score of 93-79.

Of course, Dallas was forced to play a third straight game without star rookie Paige Bueckers. She has been dealing with a concussion that has caused her to miss time.

For the Wings, DiJonai Carrington led the way in scoring with 16 points in the loss. However, she was also involved in a moment that caused a lot of drama.

During the third quarter, Carrington committed a rough foul. She pulled Los Angeles rookie Ashlee Barker down by her hair. Hater Report on X shared a video of the play.

They also shared what the announcer had to say about the foul.

“If she would’ve had extensions it wouldn’t come off,” the announcer stated.

Fans have not held back on Carrington for the foul. Some even called for the WNBA to punish the Wings’ guard.

“How’s that not an ejection,” one fan wrote.

A second comment read, “she should have received at least a suspension got this. WNBA is physical, yes. But imo this is downright unprofessional.”

“It boggles my mind it was called a common foul. That is far dirtier than anything Draymond Green ever did in my opinion,” another fan chimed in.

It remains to be seen if anything further will come from the WNBA on the situation. Clearly, the fans are not happy with what they saw.

Carrington has played well for Dallas this season. In nine games, she has averaged 13.3 points, four rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.3 steals per game
