The young man fell in love with and married a 62-year-old woman, causing a stir in the whole area. The day she announced her pregnancy, her whole family forced her to do something terrible. But soon after, they made a decision.
No one can explain the relationship between Arjun, a 23-year-old man, and Meera, a 62-year-old businesswoman, living in the largest mansion in the wealthy Malabar Hill area of Mumbai. Arjun used to be a delivery man for an application, met Meera while transferring valuable antiques from a famous jewelry store. From seemingly normal conversations about books and life philosophies, they gradually became attached. Just a few months later, Meera proactively asked Arjun to move in with her at the mansion.
Outsiders were gossiping all over the neighborhood. Relatives in the prestigious Jain family were suspicious, thinking this was a stain. But they ignored it all.
Until one day, during a family gathering at the mansion, Meera stood up and calmly announced:
“I am pregnant.”
The atmosphere instantly froze. Someone dropped a half-eaten pan. Someone choked on a bottle of water. And then, Mr. Mohan – Meera’s younger brother – spoke up, his voice full of tension:
“This is unacceptable by any standards. This must be dealt with immediately.”
All eyes turned to her. Everyone understood the hidden meaning: they wanted her to abort the child.
Violent reactions poured out:
“You are 62 years old! Have you thought about the consequences of giving birth at this time? To your health and to your family’s honor!”
“He clearly has a plan! How could a poor delivery man fall in love with an old and rich woman like you?”
“Our Jain family reputation will be ruined. Our business relationships will be affected!”
“We can’t let this continue.”
Mrs. Meera just smiled, a mysterious smile that no one could understand. Arjun stood behind her, gently placing his hand on her shoulder, his eyes firm but slightly trembling.
“This child is my choice,” she said slowly but powerfully. “I know how old I am. I know the medical risks, I know the gossip. But this is my child, my flesh and blood. And I will not give him up.”
The large living room was silent for a few seconds – and then exploded again.
Sister-in-law Sonal slammed her hand on the table:
“Are you crazy? At 62, you want to have a child? Do you think about the huge fortune, the reputation of our Jain family?”
A nephew stood up and pointed his finger at Arjun:
“And you? What do you want? Property? This Malabar Hill mansion? Or wait for Aunt Meera to die and then monopolize it all?”
Arjun pursed his lips, speaking for the first time in front of the family:
“I don’t want a single rupee from Meera. If necessary, we will leave immediately. But she has the right to be a mother. She has the right to keep her child.”
The room fell into a heavier silence than before.
The next day, a second family meeting was called. This time, lawyers, famous obstetricians and even a few reporters from the tabloids showed up – according to leaks from some relatives. The pressure from Mumbai’s public opinion began to mount.
Then Mr. Mohan, as the head of the family, gave an ultimatum:
“If you insist on keeping the baby, you must make a will transferring all the assets and shares in the Jain Group to the male members of the family. That child and that young husband will not receive a single penny. Otherwise…don’t blame us for being heartless.”
Arjun held Meera’s hand tightly.
Meera did not cry, only said a sentence that stunned everyone:
“This fortune… I built it myself once, so even if I lose everything, I can start over again.”
Then she turned to Arjun, her voice gentle:
“Let’s go, jaanu (my love).”
A week later, the largest mansion in Malabar Hill closed its doors. Meera sold most of her shares in the family group and moved to live in a small, simple but sunny house in Goa, facing the Arabian Sea.
No mansion, no expensive car, no maid – just Meera, Arjun and the sound of the waves. For the first time in years, Meera slept soundly without sedatives.
People in Mumbai were speculating:
“She is blinded by love, that young man will leave her.”
“That guy is definitely after money, without money he will disappear.”
“Both of them will regret this crazy decision.”
But on the day Meera went for her first prenatal check-up at a private clinic in Goa, Arjun sat outside the waiting room, holding a book called “Newborn Care,” looking more anxious than his mother.
The doctor smiled and announced:
“The fetus is developing very well. But you need to keep your mind relaxed and avoid any stress.”
Meera held Arjun’s hand, her eyes softening with happiness:
“You see, pyaare. We are not wrong.”
Arjun bent down, placed his hand on her belly, and whispered,
“Baby… we are waiting for you.”
And from that moment – they knew clearly, even if the whole family and society turned their backs, they would still continue together on the path they had chosen, where peace and love were the true assets.
