Caitlin Clark Responds to Fever Coach’s ‘Cut’ From $500,000 Prize Money

Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White revealed before Tuesday’s Commissioner’s Cup final that the $500,000 prize money stood out as the biggest motivation for her players.

This is exactly why the entire Fever squad was over the moon after it defeated the Minnesota Lynx, 74-59, to secure their first-ever Commissioner’s Cup championship, and, of course, the massive pot.

As the team celebrated its victory shortly after the final buzzer, a camera caught White requesting a share of the half-million-dollar prize

“Give me a cut,” White said before embracing guard Sydney Colson.

Caitlin Clark caught her coach’s comment and responded by saying that White will only get $100.

Clark was in street clothes in the video because she did not suit up for the championship game. The Fever ruled her out hours before tipoff because of a groin injury that had forced her to miss the team’s previous two outings

Despite her absence, Clark will still receive her share of the $500,000 prize money. According to reports, each player is eligible to take home a maximum of $30,000, which is an undeniably substantial amount.

That cash prize comes on top of the $5,000 in cryptocurrency that each of the 24 players who took part in the final will also receive.

The coaches, unfortunately, do not get any monetary award from the championship, despite the fact that they played a major role in the title run. White will need to rely on the generosity of her players if she’s serious about wanting a cut of the prize money.
