Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce will team up to start "1587 Prime"

Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce team up off the field on new Kansas City business

Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are teaming up off the field to open 1587 Prime, a Kansas City steakhouse built for fans, foodies, and everyone in between.

Super Bowl champions Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce already dominate Sundays, but soon they’ll try to conquer Saturdays too — and every other night of the week — with their upcoming Kansas City steakhouse, 1587 Prime.

The Chiefs superstars are bringing their talents off the field and into the food scene, teaming up with hospitality group Noble 33 to launch the two-story, nearly 10,000-square-foot restaurant inside the Loews Kansas City Hotel. The name, 1587 Prime, is a nod to their jersey numbers — 15 for Mahomes, 87 for Kelce — and the venture is shaping up to be just as calculated and collaborative as their on-field chemistry.

While the project was first announced in 2023 with hopes of an early 2025 opening, the wheels appear to be turning now. The group is officially looking to hire an executive chef, a sign that opening day might not be too far off. Per a job posting, they’re seeking someone to oversee food quality, train back-of-house staff, and shape the menu, which will include both premium steaks and a playful twist — cheeseburgers, a subtle tribute to Andy Reid’s famously beloved postgame meal.

Despite its size and prime location, Mahomes and Kelce insist 1587 Prime isn’t meant to be some ultra-exclusive dining experience. In fact, they’ve emphasized affordability and accessibility as core principles.

“We actually thought about that and we don’t want to make it too upscale, too high-priced that not everybody can go,” Mahomes told KansasCity.com. “We’re gonna make it a place where hopefully Kansas City can call it home.”

That ethos seems to guide the entire operation. It’s a steakhouse, sure, but one that might just be home to postgame meals with teammates, hangouts with local fans, or even the occasional celebrity sighting — Taylor Swift included. With private dining rooms, a top-tier chef’s kitchen, and even a meat display, the space promises to deliver both comfort and quality.

The decision to open their first restaurant in Kansas City feels fitting. This is the city where they’ve won championships, become household names, and connected deeply with the local community. As Kelce said, “What better place than Kansas City?”

No official opening date has been announced, but with staffing underway and renovations progressing, 1587 Prime is inching closer to reality. Whether it’s Chiefs fans looking for a new game-day tradition or foodies seeking a taste of Kansas City’s latest hot spot, there’s no doubt the buzz is building. And if Mahomes and Kelce’s track record tells us anything, their first foray into the restaurant world will be just as memorable as one of their highlight-reel touchdowns.
