WNBA Fans Noticing What Aliyah Boston Did to Caitlin Clark After Fever-Sparks

There was no shortage of action in Friday’s tightly contested affair between the Indiana Fever and the Los Angeles Sparks. It was a hard-fought battle throughout, which saw Indiana ultimately come out on top, 76-75.

It was a big win for the Caitlin Clark-less Fever, who inched closer to securing a playoff berth after improving to 21-18 on the season. Indiana remains sixth in the WNBA, but has increased its lead over L.A. to three games. This was the Sparks’ second straight loss, and they have now fallen to 17-20 on the season and two games behind the Golden State Valkyries for the eighth and final playoff spot

Contentious Ending to Fever-Sparks Game

Friday’s clash was not decided until the final buzzer.

Kelsey Plum committed a crucial turnover with 3.8 seconds remaining and the Sparks down one point. L.A. had to foul on the opposite end to give itself a chance at another possession, and it resulted in Kelsey Mitchell heading to the line with 1.1 seconds left.

Mitchell missed both of her attempts from the line, though, and the Sparks ended up securing the rebound. L.A. somehow managed to get a reset timeout called with 0.1 seconds remaining in the game clock. However, with so little time remaining, the Sparks were unable to even get a shot up in the next possession, resulting in a brutal one-point loss

Caitlin Clark Not Happy With Refs

A couple of videos of Clark from the dying seconds of the game are now making their rounds on social media. The reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year was in street clothes as she sat out a 17th straight game due to a lingering groin injury, but this did not stop her from making her feelings known about the game’s contentious ending.

In the video below, Clark can be seen reacting strongly to the referees’ decision to award L.A. a timeout with 0.1 seconds left.

After the final buzzer, it looked like Clark had a few things to say to the game officials. It was at that point that Aliyah Boston stepped in.

Fans React to What Aliyah Boston Did to Clark

Boston, who went off in the win with a game-high 22 points on 11-of-18 shooting, 11 rebounds, four assists, six steals and a block, appeared to have pulled Clark back as the latter charged at the referee right after the final whistle

Boston’s actions did not go unnoticed on social media.

“caitlin gonna run up on the bald ref and aliyah stops her 😭😭😭” a comment on X read.

“AB the most versatile big in the game. Scores Rebounds Assists Mother to Caitlin Clark. 😂😂😂😂” another said.

“It would have been hilarious if Aliyah picked her up and carried her off the court,” a user posted.

“Aliyah always on the Caitlin de-escalation committee,” a reaction read.

“AB is like a mom with a child in the toy section at Walmart LOL!” said another.

“Nah AB let her throw hands just this once 😂😂” a fan requested.

Despite not being active in the game, Clark could have still gotten herself fined by the WNBA if she had said anything untoward to the referee. This would not have been the first time, and Boston is well aware of this fact.

Clark still wanted to get her point across even after the win, but Boston made sure that calmer heads would prevail.
