Revealing the future role of billionaire Elon Musk in the US government

( US Vice President JD Vance confirmed that billionaire Elon Musk will continue to take on another position in the government after he ends his role at the Office of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Responding to the media on April 4, US Vice President JD Vance said that billionaire Elon Musk will remain a “friend and advisor” to President Donald Trump after his term at DOGE ends.

Mr. Musk’s role as a special government employee will end at the end of May, after which the billionaire is expected to return to other private projects. Meanwhile, DOGE will remain active until at least 2026 under Mr. Trump’s executive order.

Earlier this week, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO denied media reports that he was ending his federal spending cuts mission and leaving DOGE earlier than expected.

White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt confirmed that Mr. Musk will only leave after his work at DOGE ends.

In an interview with Fox News on April 3, Vice President Vance also said: “We asked Mr. Elon Musk to make the government more efficient, to reduce the bureaucracy that hinders the will of the American people and costs too much money. We said this would take about 6 months and Mr. Elon accepted that.”

“DOGE has a lot of work to do, and that work will continue after Elon Musk leaves, but he will remain a friend and advisor to both me and the president,” the vice president stressed. Musk’s work for the administration is not even done, he said.

According to a report by recruitment firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas, US employers announced 275,240 job cuts in March, the highest monthly figure since the Covid-19 pandemic. Notably, nearly 80% of those were federal government employees, which was driven by DOGE’s initiatives to reduce federal spending by $1 trillion by July 2026.
