Alejandro Ruiz was a brilliant medical student, known in his university for being serious and always at the top of his class. But behind his strict face and focus on studies, he had a heart that knew how to love. That was when he met Valeria—a nursing student full of life, noisy in class, and famous for her smile.

One night, both were on hospital duty as interns. An emergency arrived: a child injured in an accident. While helping, their eyes met—both tired, both sweaty, but there was an unexplainable spark.
—“You’re so brave,” Valeria whispered as she supported the patient.
—“You’re braver,” Alejandro replied with a smile.

From that moment, they were inseparable. Late-night coffee, review sessions that ended in laughter, simple walks through the hospital that felt like paradise. For seven years, they were called the “perfect couple” of their batch.

But not all beautiful stories end peacefully. As Alejandro rose in medicine, he became consumed by work—endless surgeries, seminars abroad, research projects. Valeria, though she understood his dreams, gradually felt lonelier.

One night, after months without seeing each other, they had a terrible fight.
—“I don’t feel you anymore, Alejandro!” Valeria cried, tears streaming down her face.
—“I’m doing this for us!” he shouted back, but deep down he knew it wasn’t enough.

And then one day, Valeria simply vanished. No goodbyes, no trace, no explanation. She left only a letter:
“I love you, but I can’t wait any longer.”

For seven years, Alejandro waited for an answer. For seven years, he buried himself in work, trying to bury the pain.

Now, Alejandro had become a respected OB-GYN, admired by all. One morning, during his hospital rounds, he received a call:
—“Emergency delivery, high-risk case. We need you now.”

Without hesitation, he rushed to the delivery room. But when the door opened, his world stopped.

It was Valeria. Lying on the bed, pale, struggling to breathe.
—“Valeria?” he whispered, almost in disbelief.
—“Alejandro?” her eyes widened, filled with fear and shock.

There was no time for long words. An alarm blared:
—“Fetal distress! We need immediate action!”

Amid the chaos, Alejandro became a doctor again—focused, fast, and steady.
—“Breathe, Valeria. We can do this. I won’t let you down.”

And finally, the cry of a newborn filled the room. But as Alejandro held the baby in his arms, his world shook.

The child… had the same eyes, the same smile, and a birthmark found only in his family.

He turned to Valeria, his voice heavy:
—“Valeria… why didn’t you tell me?”

Her tears were the first reply.
—“I was scared. My parents told me I would ruin your life if you found out. And when I left… I chose to protect you from the mess. But every single day, I regretted it.”

The silence was thick, weighted with years of pain. The baby cried again, and in that sound, something new was born.

Alejandro looked at the child, then at Valeria. At last, he smiled—weak but full of promise.
—“I’m not leaving again. I won’t abandon you. I won’t abandon our child.”

And in that delivery room, amidst pain and the shadows of the past, love was reborn—the love they once lost.
