Angel Reese buys her first house after claiming WNBA salary didn’t cover her rent
WNBA star Angel Reese has become a homeowner at the age of 22 – despite previously claiming her that rookie salary doesn’t cover her rent.
The Chicago Sky forward also revealed that her mother has been able to retire thanks to her incredible success on the court.
Reese was the No 7 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft after a glittering college career that included a national championship with LSU.
Like Caitlin Clark, she entered the professional game as one of the biggest stars in women’s sports but Reese earned just $73,439 in her rookie season. Her base salary for 2025 is $74,909.
‘I just hope y’all know, the WNBA don’t pay my bills at all,’ Reese said in October. ‘I don’t even think that pays one of my bills. Literally.’
Reese revealed that her rent was $96,000 a year ($8,000 a month). But the 22-year-old has also signed a host of lucrative endorsement deals with giants such as Reebok and McDonald’s.

She also joined the lucrative new offseason league, Unrivaled. And this week, the WNBA star posted a picture of herself holding a giant key.
‘Retired my momma… became a homeowner. All at 22. So blessed,’ Reese wrote alongside the photo on social media.
‘Knocked off 2 BIG things off my vision board in the first four months of the new year!’
Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Reese and Hailey Van Lith will be teammates for a second time after the Chicago Sky selected the guard with the No 11 pick in Monday’s WNBA Draft.
Reese and Van Lith played one season together at LSU, with the pair reaching the Elite Eight with the Lady Tigers before falling to Clark‘s Iowa.
And while the season also did not go to plan individually for Van Lith, as she shot a college career-low 37.8 percent from the field, Reese seemed thrilled to reunite with her.
‘We ain’t do it right the first time. Let’s run it backkkk,’ Reese wrote on X after Van Lith was selected.
