Ariana Grande calls Grammys “literal bullsh*t” after Mac Miller loses to Cardi B
Ariana Grande has since clarified that she meant no shade towards Cardi…
It’s no secret that Ariana Grande has mixed feelings towards the Grammys.
Ariana Grande opted not to attend the Grammy Awards this year. The 25-year-old superstar was scheduled to perform at the ceremony but she decided to pull out after disagreements with the show’s producer Ken Ehlrich. Not only that but, after Ken claimed that Ariana “felt it was too late for her to pull something together”, Ariana called him out for “lying” and said that he “stifled” her creativity.
With that in mind, Ariana spent last night (Feb 10) watching the event and live-tweeting her thoughts about it from home like the rest of us. She spent most of the show praising her fellow artists (“so good so good so fuckin real @JanelleMonae”) but caused a stir in a series of now deleted tweets in which she called the Grammys “bullshit” after Mac Miller lost Best Rap Album to Cardi B.
As soon as it was announced that Cardi B won the Best Rap Album award instead of Mac, Ariana tweeted: “trash”, followed by “literal bullshit” and “bullshit”. Ariana clarified what she meant by replying to a tweet that said: “Y’all invite Mac’s parents out and y’all didn’t give him and award are y’all DUMB?” She wrote: “this. this is what i meant. karen was gonna have a green suit made.”
Supporting Mac, Ariana then added: “he slept in the studio for two months.” Then when a fan tweeted, “Ariana isn’t shading Cardi it’s cause Mac didn’t win”, Ariana confirmed: “nothing to do w her. good for her. i’m sorry.” To make things, even more clear Ariana corrected a fan who said “she’s trash tho fr”, writing “she’s not at all and that’s not what i meant and u know that”.

In other words, Ariana wasn’t shading Cardi. She was just upset that Mac’s parents were invited to an event where their son wasn’t awarded or even paid tribute to beyond in memoriam. Proving there was no bad blood on either side, Cardi took to Instagram later to dedicate her award to Mac Miller saying, “I’m sharing this Grammy with you, rest in peace”.
