Caitlin Clark receives new nickname on radio show as she shows her passion
WNBA star Caitlin Clark has been a vocal supporter of the Indiana Pacers this postseason, and she was given a new nickname on the team’s official radio show
Indiana Fever sensation Caitlin Clark has been playing cheerleader for her pal Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers, and it seems to be working.
The Pacers, against all odds, toppled the top dogs Cleveland Cavaliers in an epic five-game shocker, sliding into their second straight Eastern Conference Finals, even facing down Donovan Mitchell’s superstar performance.
Clark couldn’t hide her glee after the Pacers’ Game 4 rout of the Cavs or her sympathy for the shocked team during a call-in to ‘Pacers Overtime’ show on 93.5/107.5 ‘The Fan’, with Eddie White and Stephen Simon.
Taking the airwaves by storm, Caitlin “Caitlin from downtown” Clark – a nickname coined by the flamboyant White due to her WNBA three-pointer throne – shared her hot takes.
Following the tradition of taglines like “LeBron from Akron” and “Luka from Slovenia,” White played up Caitlin’s presence on the show, but she quickly switched gears to offer her analysis. Fresh from her Rookie of the Year triumphs, Clark reflected on the Pacers’ staggering 129-104 win, where they demolished the Cavs with an 80-49 lead by halftime.
“The first half was probably the best offensive half I have ever seen in all of basketball, it was fun,” she marveled on air, adding pitifully, “I felt honestly just bad for the Cavs at one point.”
Never scored 80 in a half,” Clark exclaimed, recounting her amazement at the game’s intensity. “We’d be lucky to hit 60. So, 80 and a game is pretty good for the most part. But 80 in a half – I was on my feet for that entire second quarter. It was pretty fun.”
Indiana wrapped up their series with a gutsy 114-105 win on the road last Tuesday night, overcoming a daunting 19-point deficit. Pacers’ star Haliburton took command, scoring 31 points to seal the victory.
We’re different than every other team in the NBA,” boasted Haliburton after the game. “We don’t just have one guy who scores all the points, I think we defeat teams in different ways.”
With high stakes and anticipation, Clark and the Fever are gearing up for a thrilling 2025 season opener against the Chicago Sky at the United Center, which will undoubtedly be a television highlight on ABC, particularly when Clark goes head-to-head with Angel Reese.
Coming off a fourth-place finish in the 2024 season, Clark is determined to climb higher this year, no doubt aided by a bolstered supporting squad.
