Basketball influencer Rachel DeMita has been dismissed by Ice Cube’s Big3 basketball league after she shared and commented on incredible Caitlin Clark highlights.

Against the New York Liberty, Clark returned from injury to lead her Indiana Fever to an epic 102-88 victory. The All-Star’s 32 points inspired the win, which snapped the defending champion Liberty’s undefeated streak to start the season.

Toward the end of the first quarter, Clark launched a flurry of 3-point strikes. She connected on three in a devastating 43-second span that left fans – as well as LeBron James and WNBA legend Rebecca Lobo – stunned.

DeMita was also impressed. She took to social media to share Clark’s highlights while writing: “For those who questioned the hype.”

There was one problem, though. The Fever’s clash against the Liberty was being staged at the same time Big3 was airing from Chicago on CBS, with DeMita working as a courtside correspondent.

As a result, the Big3 decided that sharing Clark’s highlights from a competing network at the same time as her role was the “final straw,” according to Front Office Sports. The league then swiftly parted ways with DeMita.

DeMita is a former host of NBA 2KTV. She has built a wide following on social media for her basketball commentary, tallying over 278,000 followers on X, 452,000 on TikTok, one million on Instagram, and 362,000 YouTube subscribers.

DeMita had been with Big3 since last season. Big3 is an alternative 3-on-3 basketball league founded by the hip-hop musician and actor Ice Cube alongside entertainment executive Jeff Kwatinetz.

Ultimately, Clark’s incredible flurry captured the imagination of the basketball world. On Monday, WNBA legend Lobo said on ESPN’s ‘First Take’: “I’m sitting there at the end of the first quarter when she had that 38-second stretch where she drained deep three after deep three after deep three.

“I was just sitting there thinking, ‘I’ve been around this league since 1997. I have never seen that in a WNBA game.’ Have we seen players go on runs? Of course, we have.

“But not like that, not where a couple of the 3-pointers are from 30-plus feet.”

Clark ended the night with 32 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists, shooting 11-for-20 from the field and knocking down half of her 14 attempts from downtown. Three of her 3-pointers came from beyond 30 feet, while the rest connected from at least 26 feet.

Clark missed five games after suffering a left quadriceps strain in the tight loss to Liberty last month. The Fever went 2-3 without their All-Star guard.

Clark’s return saw the Fever defeat the Liberty before tallying a win over the Connecticut Sun in a physical contest. But she struggled on Thursday night as Indiana lost 88-77 on the road against the Golden State Valkyries.

Clark’s 6-6 Fever are next in action on the road against A’ja Wilson and the 5-6 Las Vegas Aces on Sun., June 22.
