Chicago Sky guard Chennedy Carter seems to have moved on from her temporary beef with Caitlin Clark after pushing the Indiana Fever star during a rivalry game last season

Former Chicago Sky guard Chennedy Carter made headlines in 2024 when she aggressively bumped Indiana Fever then-rookie Caitlin Clark to the ground, drawing a fervent cheer from Angel Reese on the bench.
Carter, currently a free agent, stood over Clark before nonchalantly walking up the court. “I ain’t answering no Caitlin Clark questions,” she said after the game. Her action was originally ruled a common foul but was upgraded to a flagrant 1 the next day.
Speaking recently with YouTuber N3ON, Carter appeared to soften her stance. “It’s one of those things that just happens in basketball,” she said. “It was just like a little tap, like ‘I’m here.’ Not to like harm [her] or anything.”
“It’s one of those things. I’m a great player, she’s a great player,” she continued. “Everybody is gonna have their views on it, and my personal view is that I don’t have anything against her.”
Carter. 26. was the fourth pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft out of Texas A&M by the Atlanta Dream, averaged a career-high 17.5 points and 3.5 rebounds a game last year for the Sky.
“So in basketball a little bit, there are things called talking smack, that’s a part of basketball,” Carter said of what built up to the contact. “I think a play before, maybe I was elbowed, okay, that happens.”
“I think the next play down, maybe something was said, and then maybe there was a little clip of somebody yelling in my face. And then we go down the court, then I hit a little bucket.” Carter, feeling good, then hip-checked Clark.
The Fever went on to win 71-70, just the team’s second of the season through 10 games. Clark, still struggling at the start of her WNBA career, scored 11 points on 4/11 shooting.
When asked if Carter should apologize, the Fever star calmly said, “No….Basketball’s competitive. I get it. Sometimes your emotions get the best of you — it happened to me multiple times throughout the course of my career. “
“People are competitive. [Carter is] having a tremendous season. She’s played great basketball,” she continued, even adding a dose of praise.
“In my eyes, probably in first place for Sixth Player of the Year. She’s been great off the bench for them. She had 25 [points] here last night and really helped them win the game.”
