Jason Kelce Embarks on ‘Stupid’ Weight Loss Journey
Jason Kelce is setting some new goals for his body.
On the Wednesday, March 25, episode of his New Heights podcast— which Jason co-hosts with brother Travis Kelce — the retired Philadelphia Eagles player, 37, revealed he is competing with his former teammate Beau Allen to see “who can lose the most body fat percentage but still gain muscle.”
The former NFL star explained that the two men had completed DEXA scans — which measures bone density — to see what they were working with.
“It is kind of embarrassing seeing your body broken down like this,” he confessed. “I am not going to lie. It is a good calf-to-hamstring ratio, I think.”
The football legend broke down his stats for his younger brother in the episode, sharing that his total weight is 276.6 lbs. as he had shed some pounds since his NFL days. “I have lost 20 lbs. I was never heavier than 300. Well, I did, maybe a couple of times, I tipped 300 in the NFL,” he remarked.
The Super Bowl champion said that his lean mass consists of “207 lbs. of muscle” and that he has “58.7 lbs. of fat,” which equates to “21 percent body fat” for him. Jason admitted, “It is a lot of fat.”
Travis chimed in, “We got to get that down.”
The 35-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end asked his older sibling why he was even doing this competition, and Jason joked that this is what happens when you leave the NFL.
“When you retire, you have to do stupid competitions like this to keep your sanity. So Beau and I are going to try and lose as much body fat percentage as possible in three months,” he stated. “We have the Ocean Drive event that we do for the Eagles Autism Foundation every year.
Jason added that whoever loses the competition must don a speedo at the Ocean Drive event.
He further explained there is an entire points system. “If you get muscle on, you get a point, and if you lose body fat percentage, you get two points,” he noted.
