My husband secretly took my bank card to take his girlfriend on a trip, but when we arrived at the airport, the customs officer rudely uttered a sentence that insulted both of us.
Arjun and I have been married for seven years and have a young son. Since our marriage, I’ve always thought my husband was a gentleman, hardworking, and responsible person. Arjun works for a company, and I work in online sales, which provides a stable income. Every month, we both deposit money into the same account for family expenses. But because business is doing well, I earn more, and the bank card is mostly in my name. Arjun knows the password, but I never thought he would take advantage of it.
Recently, Arjun has changed significantly. He often comes home late, always making excuses about working overtime or meeting his partner. He keeps his phone close to his chest, not letting anyone touch it. I was beginning to suspect him, but I have no proof.
One evening, when Arjun went to take a shower, his phone vibrated on the table. I accidentally saw a text message:
“Have your passport ready, we’re going on vacation tomorrow, I’m so excited!”
My heart sank. I was about to start a conversation, only to discover that Arjun had booked a plane ticket and a luxurious hotel – all paid for with my bank card.
I smiled bitterly. All the hard work I had put in day and night to save money for the family was finally being used by my husband to secretly pamper another woman.
That night, I tossed and turned. I didn’t want to cause a ruckus at home for fear of affecting my son, but I also couldn’t let him and his mistress spend my sweat and tears on me.
The next morning, Arjun woke up early, dressed nicely, and said:
“I have to go on a business trip for a few days. Contact will be difficult. Please take care of the child.”
I smiled awkwardly and simply said “yes.” Meanwhile, I quietly called a friend who worked at Indira Gandhi International Airport and asked him to check the flight information. Soon, my friend told me: Arjun had booked a ticket to Thailand, departing that afternoon.
I decided to go to the airport. I didn’t want to make a fuss, but I wanted to see it with my own eyes so he wouldn’t refuse again.
A commotion broke out at the airport.
As expected, I saw Arjun and a young, stylishly dressed girl holding hands in the check-in area. They were laughing and chatting happily, looking like a happy couple. I squeezed my hands, trying to control my anger.
When they had completed the process, when it was time to go through customs, a staff member suddenly stopped them. The employee’s cold voice echoed…
“Sorry, the credit card used to book the ticket has fraudulent signs. We’ll have to call you both into the office for verification.”
Arjun was stunned, his face pale. The girl with him turned around in alarm and asked:
“What happened? You didn’t even say everything was okay?” I approached and calmly said:
“That card is mine. She secretly took it to take her on a trip.”
The entire surrounding area immediately erupted in commotion. People looked at me, then Arjun and the other girl with disdain.
Arjun stammered:
“You… you just wanted to take her on a trip, you had no intention of…”
I smiled lightly:
“You had no intention of taking your wife and children’s hard-earned money to have fun with your lover?”
With that, he fell silent. The customs officer sternly asked Arjun to sign a statement and told him that legal action could be taken against him for illegal use of the bank account.
The other girl saw the trouble and immediately blamed him:
“You said you were rich, but you only spent your wife’s money! You lied to me!”
Then she left, leaving Arjun sitting there, his face humiliated.
A final farewell
I looked at my husband, my heart aching, but also with determination. I said briefly:
“From now on, we have nothing to do with each other. You face the consequences yourself.”
With that, I turned and walked away, leaving behind his eyes pleading for help.
That day, I felt sad, but also relieved. I understood that a man who betrayed me, dared to take his wife’s bank card to have an extramarital affair, was not worth keeping.
I returned home and hugged my son. He was still innocent and smiling innocently. I said to myself: From now on, I will live strong, giving all my love to my son.
Even though I lost a bad husband, I will never lose my self-respect and faith in myself.
After the humiliation at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Arjun disappeared for several days. I thought he would remain silent, but a week later, he suddenly appeared at my door, gaunt, tired, and with red eyes.
Seeing me, Arjun fell to his knees, his voice trembling:
“Ananya… I’m sorry. I was crazy for what I did. I love you, I love my child… Please give me a chance to come back, to make things right.”
As soon as my son saw his father, he yelled, “Papa!”, then ran to embrace him. At that moment, my heart ached, but my mind was still as cold as ice.
Cracks That Cannot Be Healed
I looked directly at Arjun:
“You love me? So tell me, how many relationships have you had besides the girl from the airport?”
He bowed his head and fell silent. I growled:
“There have been several unusual expenses on my bank card for several months. How long will you hide this from me?”
Finally, Arjun confessed: besides that girl, he was living with at least two other women. One was his former colleague in Gurgaon, and the other was a young woman he met on social media. With both of them, he fabricated a story about “divorcing his wife” and promised a future.
This made my blood boil. The man I trusted for seven years turned out to be a complete liar.
But it didn’t end there. A few days later, I got a call from the bank: Arjun had secretly mortgaged our joint savings account and was using it for online gambling and cricket betting.
I was devastated. My years of savings, my sweat and tears—had now turned into negative numbers.
When I confronted him, Arjun fell to his knees and started crying again:
“I just wanted to make up for it, but the more I tried, the more I sank. I was afraid you would find out, so I had to find a way to make ends meet. I… I was wrong, but I still love you. Don’t leave me, Ananya.”
I looked at him, my heart filled with anger:
“What kind of love is this that is exchanged for betrayal, deception, and debt? This isn’t love, it’s selfishness.”
“A husband took his girlfriend on a trip using his wife’s card, and customs stopped him.” This news spread rapidly throughout the neighborhood. Relatives, friends, and coworkers all found out. Arjun lost his job because the company considered his behavior dishonest and damaging to his reputation.
His girlfriend left. His family also turned away because they were so ashamed. Friends began to avoid him.
He came crying to my door for the last time: “I’ve lost everything. Please, at least let me be with my child…”
I calmly replied:
“I still have legal responsibility for my child. But for me, love, trust, respect—I’ve lost everything forever.”
Arjun collapsed, crying like a child. I turned away, no longer trembling.
From then on, I lived peacefully with my son. I worked harder and spent more time with him. According to the court, Arjun still had to support the child, but his life was sinking into debt and loneliness.
I realized one thing: a woman can forgive once, but if a man still lies and betrays, the return is a deep pit that swallows both of them.
And for Arjun, the price of betrayal is not only losing his wife and children, but also his honor and life.
