My sister unexpectedly invited my whole family on a cruise. That night, while I was in the restroom, I was surprised to see her trying to seduce my husband. Furious, I ran over to catch her red-handed, but she struggled and tried to push me into the sea. Little did she know I had a plan.
My sister was the one who suggested the trip.
“It’s been a long time since we all went anywhere together. I’ll pay for everything; let’s go on a cruise in Goa for a change of scenery.” Priya’s voice was sweet.
My husband, Rohan, laughed and said, “It’s rare for you to be so generous.”
I, Ananya, said nothing. I just nodded.
The first night on the Arabian Sea, the breeze was cool, and the waves lapped gently against the ship’s hull. Everyone had gone to their cabins. I was dozing off when I needed to use the restroom, so I put on my saree and went out to the corridor.
The lights were dim yellow. The ship was quiet.
As I walked past the aft deck, I heard soft laughter. Then a familiar, chilling male voice said, “You look beautiful tonight, Priya.”
I stopped.
Under the dim light of the decorative diya lamps, I saw Priya leaning against the railing, wearing a glittering lehenga. And Rohan, my husband, was standing close behind her. Her hand rested on his chest. The distance between them… was undeniable.
I stepped forward.
“WHAT ARE YOU TWO DOING HERE?”
They both jumped. Priya turned around first, her eyes not panicked—but cold, like the ice of Ladakh.
“You’ve misunderstood, little Ananya.”
Before Rohan could say anything, she stepped forward, grabbed my wrist, and said in a low, menacing voice,
“Go back to your room. This is grown-up business.”
My blood rushed to my head. I pulled my hand away. “Let go of me!”
Priya’s expression suddenly changed. Her grip tightened. She leaned close to my ear and whispered,
“If you scream, your whole family will be humiliated in front of everyone.
And if you ‘accidentally’ fall into the sea right now… in Mumbai, it’ll just be a tragic accident.”
Before I could react, she pushed me hard.
My back hit the railing. Behind me was the dark sea, the waves crashing violently. If I fell—no one would know what had happened.
Rohan stood frozen. He didn’t stop me. He didn’t say anything.
But Priya didn’t expect that…
I had planned everything in advance.
I let go of the railing, but my hands remained firmly gripping the iron bar below—the exact spot I had noticed and checked since boarding the ship at Mormugao port.
At the same time, I shouted loudly in Hindi:
“BACHHAO! MERI BEHEN MUJHE SAMUNDAR MEIN DHAKEL RAHI HAI!”
(Help! My sister is pushing me into the sea!)
The deck lights came on. Footsteps rushed out. A tall Punjabi security officer and several passengers burst out.
Priya hadn’t had time to pull her hand away. Everyone saw clearly—her hand was gripping my wrist tightly, and Rohan was standing right behind her, his face pale.
I let go of the railing, falling to the floor, trembling as if I’d just escaped death.
The security camera on deck—which I’d deliberately positioned myself at the right angle—recorded everything, from Priya’s cold gaze to Rohan’s helplessness.
What happened after that needs no further explanation.
Priya was ordered to self-isolate in her room. Rohan was summoned for a private meeting with the captain.
The next morning, with the support of my family lawyer from Delhi, connected via satellite phone, I filed for divorce right on the ship. The evidence was complete. No fuss. No jealousy.
When the ship docked back in Goa, Priya looked at me, her voice trembling:
“When did you start planning this, Ananya?”
I only replied with one sentence, softly but with weight:
“From the moment you said, ‘I’ll pay for everything,’ Priya.”
There are trips that aren’t for relaxation.
But to end relationships that have rotted from within.
And there are people who think they’re cornering others…
but don’t realize that,
they themselves have walked into a trap that was prepared from the very first invitation.
