In a media event that drew national attention, Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White, rising star Caitlin Clark, and WNBA veteran DeWanna Bonner came together to preview what promises to be one of the franchise’s most anticipated seasons yet — the 2025 campaign.
With the Fever rebuilding and rebranding around a mix of elite talent and experienced leadership, the trio opened up to the national press about expectations, challenges, and what fans can look forward to when the season tips off.
Stephanie White: “The Culture Is Changing”
Head coach Stephanie White, now fully in control of the team’s long-term direction, spoke confidently about the program’s evolution.
“We’re no longer just trying to compete. We’re building a winning culture,” White said. “The pieces are coming together, and we’ve laid a foundation that can lead to real postseason success.”
She praised both the team’s younger core and seasoned players, emphasizing player development, team chemistry, and accountability as the three pillars moving forward.
Caitlin Clark: “I’m Not a Rookie Anymore”
Now entering her second WNBA season, Caitlin Clark spoke with a noticeably more seasoned perspective. After a whirlwind rookie year that saw her shatter expectations, become a national figure, and revitalize interest in the Fever, Clark now looks ahead with sharper focus.
“Last year was about learning. This year is about winning,” she said. “I understand the league better now. I know what I need to bring every night — and how I can help my team do the same.”
Clark acknowledged the spotlight hasn’t dimmed, but said she’s grown more comfortable in the role of leader both on and off the court. She also revealed offseason improvements in strength, defense, and decision-making.
DeWanna Bonner: “This Team’s Got Fire”
Joining the Fever after an impactful stint with the Connecticut Sun, DeWanna Bonner brings veteran savvy and championship experience. At 37, she remains one of the league’s most respected voices — and she’s bullish on what this team can achieve.
“Caitlin’s the real deal. This whole squad is hungry, and that’s what I love,” Bonner said. “I’m here to lead, to compete, and to help this team take the next step.”
Bonner praised the energy in training camp, describing it as “competitive but supportive.” She also said she sees a spark in the younger players that reminds her of championship teams she’s played on.
What’s Next for the 2025 Indiana Fever?
With expectations high and a national spotlight constantly following Clark, the Fever are entering the 2025 season with something they haven’t had in years: belief. The combination of youthful energy, veteran grit, and a visionary coaching staff could make the Fever one of the league’s most exciting teams.
“We’re not promising perfection,” Coach White concluded, “but we are promising a fight. Every game. Every night.”
The 2025 season might just be the year Indiana goes from hopeful to headline-worthy contenders.
New Fever Coach Stephanie White Makes Big Caitlin Clark Admission
When the Indiana Fever take the court Saturday to open the 2025 WNBA season, they’ll look noticeably different from a year ago. Still led by Caitlin Clark, who averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 8.4 assists in her rookie season, the Fever now have a deeper, more experienced roster.
Veterans like Sophie Cunningham, DeWanna Bonner, Brianna Turner and Natasha Howard were added in the offseason, bringing leadership and toughness to a core that already includes Clark, Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell.
The Fever not only made roster changes but also brought in a new head coach after parting ways with Christie Sides. Stephanie White is now in charge after spending the last two seasons with the Connecticut Sun.

Over the past few weeks, White has been leading practices and coaching preseason games as she gets the Fever ready for the new season. In the process, she’s already gotten a firsthand look at how mature Clark is, despite being in just her second year in the WNBA.
White recently admitted to ESPN’s Alexa Philippou that Clark is “far beyond her years.”
“She’s far beyond her years in terms of her understanding of how to work,” White said. “Oftentimes, you see rookies, even the great ones, where it usually takes three years for them to figure it out. She’s got it figured out.”
Clark’s rookie year was nothing short of historic. She earned Rookie of the Year honors, made the All-Star team and All-WNBA First Team, led the league in assists and even finished in the top five in MVP voting.
Now, as she enters her second season, Clark is the current betting favorite to win MVP. According to ESPN Bet, she’s listed at +200, just ahead of Aces star A’ja Wilson (+225) and Lynx forward Napheesa Collier (+300)
