Indiana Fever President Deletes Account Hours Before Friday Night Game
While the Indiana Fever prepared for a Friday night game against the Atlanta Dream, team president Kelly Krauskopf reacted to rising pressure on the front office by deleting one of her social media accounts.
Krauskopf led the WNBA franchise from 2000 to 2018 before leaving to join the Indiana Pacers and become the first woman in NBA history to hold an executive basketball management role.
She returned to the Fever in September 2024 as part of a massive offseason overhaul that included hiring new head coach Stephanie White, general manager Amber Cox and significant roster turnover with the aim of rapidly building a contender around Caitlin Clark after her phenomenal rookie season
On Friday, a video of Krauskopf gained traction on social media ahead of the game against the Dream. She said she wanted the Fever to become an enduring brand beyond Clark, naming Apple as an inspiration.
Even though it is part of Krauskopf’s job as President of Basketball and Business Operations, many fans expressed their concerns about the Indiana president aiming for such lofty goals off the court while the team entered Friday’s game with a sub-.500 record of 9-10 in the 2025 regular season.
In particular, the idea that the brand would continue to be a “leader in the country” in a future that is not guaranteed to include Clark beyond the end of her rookie contract in 2027 left social media users upset.
After receiving waves of backlash throughout the afternoon, Krauskopf deleted her X account.
During Krauskopf’s first stint with the Fever, they made the postseason 13 times, played in three WNBA Finals in a seven-year span and won a championship in 2012.
She was also named the WNBA’s first Director of Basketball Operations in 1996. In the groundbreaking role, she was responsible for helping to create rules, scheduling, and officiating policies ahead of the league’s inaugural season.
