Words cannot describe the disappointment and heartbreak the city of Indiana felt yesterday after Caitlin Clark’s injury update. “There is no timetable for her return.” All it took was seven words to derail the hopes and expectations the fans had built up again for the Indiana Fever. See, this isn’t their first run-in with issues this season. CC has been struggling with injuries since day one and has already missed a considerable number of games so far.
The biggest blow? When she missed the All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis. Clark was voted in as a team captain, and it was meant to be a fairytale weekend for the city. But a handful of days before the big event, CC pulled her right groin against the Connecticut Sun. So not only did the six-foot-tall guard end up missing the ASG, she hasn’t taken the court since!
And it has been rough. The team lost two games straight after Clark’s injury, and their offense looks a little choppy. Stephanie White’s team could do with a little boost, but what was their solution to the issue? To bring in Chloe Bibby on a seven-day contract. The six-foot-tall forward from Australia is a familiar face for Indiana, as she recently put up 12 points and 3 rebounds against the team while playing for the Valks
Bibby’s addition might turn out to be a decent short-term fix as the young forward has an incredibly diverse skillset! She can shoot, she can rebound, and she can finish around the rim. What more can you possibly want? Not to mention, Chloe Bibby’s shooting opens up the whole floor in terms of spacing. This is exactly why Valks HC Nakase called her a “Swiss army knife,” and honestly? We agree with her!
The Australian forward is under contract for seven days and will get the opportunity to demonstrate her fit and production off Indiana’s bench. Hopefully, all goes well and the Fever end up with another amazing contributor that they so desperately need right now with Clark’s injury. Stephanie White’s team is headed to Chicago this weekend to challenge Tyler Marsh and his squad. But this time is going to be a lot different than before. Let’s find out how!
Caitlin Clark versus Angel Reese rivalry stifled by injuries
From getting Bird-Magic comparisons to drawing in millions of viewers on opening night, the Caitlin Clark-Angel Reese rivalry has been insanely popular for the last few years. It started in the NCAA championship, and we’ve seen glimpses of action and energy in every matchup and every conversation since then. Sadly, we’ve been robbed of this intense rivalry once this season, and we’re about to see it happen again.
Neither Angel Reese nor Caitlin Clark has been completely healthy this season. While Reese has only dealt with a couple of surface-level injuries, her rival out in Indiana has been going through it. Two quad strains, and now two groin strains? It’s been tough for the six-foot-tall Iowa alum.
Earlier in June, Clark couldn’t show up for the second game against Chicago, but now? It looks like both Reese and Clark will be healing up for future endeavours on Sunday. “Angel is day-to-day. Pretty sore this morning and didn’t want to mess with it being a back issue. We’ll see how she is on Sunday.” Tyler Marsh said as per reporter Karli Bell on X.
This news is always tough to bear. The last time we saw the two, they were trading blow-for-blow. Clark put up a 20pt triple-double, while Angel Reese did what she does best with a 12pt, 17reb double-double. Both players are incredibly talented and fiercely competitive, and we can’t wait to see them play each other once again. We’ll have to wait till September, however, as the two aren’t scheduled to play until then
