Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham isn’t moving around too much following her season-ending surgery, so she’s had to get creative.

Sophie tore her right MCL during a win against the Connecticut Sun on August 17 and is out for the remainder of her first term with Indiana.

The injury occurred in the second quarter of the game, when Sun guard Bria Hartley fell into her while driving to the basket. Sophie immediately held her knee after falling near the sideline and screamed in pain.

Medical staff helped her get to the locker room.

The Fever announced that she was ruled out for the rest of the season, though she is expected to recover fully.

Sophie Cunningham Is Working Smarter Now

The 28-year-old recently took to Instagram to post a video of herself using her left leg to grab a tray of Chips Ahoy! from her coffee table. “Work smarter, not harder,” she wrote in the caption.

The video has also surfaced on Twitter/X, and can be seen below:

Sophie’s injury is a significant setback for the Fever, who have been without Caitlin Clark for most of the season and have lost multiple guards to injury.

Cunningham had been key in Clark’s absence, averaging 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game.

The Fever signed veteran guard Shey Peddy to a hardship contract after the injury development.
