Stephanie White’s Unawareness About Caitlin Clark Injury Fuels More Doubts About Indiana Fever, Per National Analyst
Remember when that one picture of Caitlin Clark taping her quads got viral on the internet after her second game back from injury against the Connecticut Sun? Well, fast forward three games, and the worst has come true! It has now been officially confirmed that Clark is once again injured. This time with a groin injury. Things just keep going from bad to worse for Indiana fans. And now, one national analyst is speaking out about their frustration with how the organization is handling things.
“It’s very much a day-to-day thing, how she responds to treatment. I stay in my lane and let our strength and conditioning staff… do what they do best. They took her down yesterday for the MRI, I’m not exactly sure (when she reported the injury). I didn’t hear about until I heard about it from the training staff last night,” Coach Stephanie White had said to explain the injury.
Sound familiar, Fever fans? It should. Just like the DeWanna Bonner situation, where Coach Stephanie White remained vague for weeks, the handling of Caitlin Clark’s injury feels eerily similar. And it’s just not the fans who are worried about this! Rachel DeMita has also noticed the pattern.
On her Youtube channel, she said, “Indiana Fever fans have lost a little bit of trust in the Fever organization because throughout the DeWanna Bonner situation, when DB was away, the Indiana Fever just kept saying it’s personal reasons, it’s personal reasons, we’re in contact with DB, we’re just supporting her and making sure she’s all good. And then it comes out that there was something totally different happening behind the scenes. And then one day later after that, Coach Stephanie White is like, ‘Well I actually haven’t been talking to DB that much.’ And so at this point, we just don’t know if we can trust what’s actually coming out of the organization.”
It came as a huge surprise to everyone when it was announced that DeWanna Bonner was getting waived. For over two weeks, she was absent from the team, with the only official word being that she was out due to personal reasons. Throughout that time, Coach Stephanie White never hinted that Bonner didn’t want to be part of the squad. In fact, her statements made it seem like DB was dealing with something serious off the court.
Now, with the Caitlin Clark injury update, the concern only grows. The fact that Coach White admitted she didn’t even know when Clark suffered the injury isn’t exactly reassuring. And on top of that, the fans don’t know when exactly will Clark come back on the court. She could be back for the next game against the Wings, or she might be out for a couple of weeks. The lack of clear communication from the franchise isn’t doing anyone any favors. But it is understandable as player safety is the utmost priority of any organization.
So, how are the Fever holding up without Caitlin Clark? As expected, not too well. They’ve suffered yet another loss in her absence. Let’s take a look!
Caitlin Clark less Indiana Fever lose again!
Despite having an 8-point lead heading into the final quarter, the Indiana Fever ended up losing 75-85 to the Los Angeles Sparks. This takes their record to 2-4 without Clark and the overall record to 7-8. Far from ideal. Sophie Cunningham, too, wasn’t happy about their performance and gave out a clear message!

“You’re right, we’ve had double-digit leads going into the 4th, then we just let it slip. So for us, we got to be better,” she said. That marked the third time in the last four games the Fever have let a double-digit second-half lead slip away. Closing out games has become a glaring issue. If they don’t fix this fast, their hopes of making a deep playoff run could be in jeopardy!
The team’s leaning hard on Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston, but without Clark’s energy firing up the squad and the fans, it’s tough to keep that momentum going.
Well, for that to change, Caitlin Clark needs to return fully healthy and firing on all cylinders. Her presence is clearly vital if the Fever want to turn this season around and make it one to remember. But with Clark already missing six games, it does raise a question about the seriousness of her injury. What do you think? Are the Fever being fully transparent with the fans?
