Caitlin Clark has been on the sidelines for quite some time, and although she hasn’t been playing, she has not been quiet about the refs.

The 23-year-old superstar guard has been out of action since July 15 after picking up a groin injury in the final seconds of the Indiana Fever’s 85-77 victory over the Connecticut Sun. Clark has now missed 20 games of the WNBA season.

Still, with no timetable on a return, Clark hasn’t stopped being a big voice for her teammates on the sidelines, almost as if she is in an assistant coaching role alongside head coach Stephanie White.

Clark, who isn’t a stranger to jawing with the refs, could be seen losing her mind on the bench at the refs multiple times throughout the night as her team took on the Dallas Wings.

One moment even showed Caitlin Clark having to be held back.

As the Wings celebrated the 81-80 road victory inside Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Clark decided to get some more words out as she walked on the court toward official Amy Bonner and had a chippy exchange.

Clark wasn’t the only member of the Fever who appeared to take exception to the officiating on Tuesday, with head coach Stephanie White chiding the “double standard” in a physical game.

“If it’s going to be physical, and you’re going to allow us to be physical, then allow both teams to be physical. If you’re going to call the holds, and you’re going to call the chucks, then call it both ways, White said, according to the Indy Star.

“So, I mean, I think that we’ve been pretty consistent in what we’re asking for, and I didn’t feel like it was consistent,” she added.

In a contest in which the Fever were down by 17 points with less than seven minutes remaining, the game tightened up as Indiana had their chance to win.

Kelsey Mitchell ended up forcing a fadeaway with just 1.7 seconds left of the fourth quarter. It missed.

The Fever’s loss to the Wings is their third loss in their last four outings, all without Caitlin Clark on the floor.

Clark, the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year, has been hampered by injuries during her sophomore campaign.
